Getting the most from our website
At Family Investments we want to make sure that, as a visitor to our website, it's easy for you to find your way around, access the information you need and get the full advantages of all of our online services and functionality. So we've added a few tips below to help you get the most out of the Family Investments websites.
Operating Systems and Browsers
Our website is best viewed using Internet Explorer (version 6 or higher) or Firefox.
If you are a Mac user please note that our site is not currently optimised for Safari so you may experience some layout and functionality issues. We are currently investigating ways to improve the service to this browser, but in the meantime we recommend using an alternative browser, such as Firefox.
You can download and install other browsers for free by clicking on one of the links below. If you have any technical problems downloading a browser, we recommend you contact either your Internet Service Provider, Microsoft or Mozilla.
Changing your browser settings
If you are having any problems using our website, changing some of the browser settings relating to how the site is displayed may help. To see how to make some of the most common changes, please see the instructions below.
Changing your settings on Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2

| To permanently apply font and colour changes |
- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Accessibility'.
- Click on the three boxes so that they are all ticked.
- Click on 'OK'.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'.
- In the 'Content' tab, choose the 'Advanced' option near 'Fonts & Colours'.
- Remove the tick in the box next to 'Allow pages to choose their own font, instead of my selections above'.
- Choose your preferred font styles and sizes from the drop-down menus on this page.
- Click 'OK'
- Back on the 'Content' tab, click the 'Colours' option near 'Fonts & Colours'.
- Remove the tick in the box next to 'Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above.'
- Choose your preferred text and background and link colours.
- Click 'OK'
- On the 'Content' tab, click 'OK' again.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Accessibility'.
- Tick the 'Ignore font sizes specified on web pages' check box.
- Click on 'OK'.
- On the browser 'Page' menu select 'Text Size'.
- Choose your preferred text size.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'.
- In the 'Content' tab, choose the 'Advanced' option next to 'Fonts & Colours'.
- Remove the tick in the box next to 'Allow pages to choose their own font, instead of my selections above'.
- Click 'OK'.
- In the 'Content' tab, under 'Fonts & Colours', choose your preferred font style and size.
- Click 'OK'

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Colours'.
- Click on the 'Use Windows Colours' so that it is no longer ticked.
- Select the box next to 'Text' and choose your preferred colour.
- Click on 'OK'.
- Select the box next to 'Background' and choose your preferred colour.
- Click on 'OK'.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'.
- In the 'Content' tab, choose the 'Colours' option next to 'Fonts & Colours'.
- Remove the tick in the box next to 'Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above'.
- Choose your preferred text and background colours.
- Click 'OK'.
- On the 'Content' tab, click 'OK' again.

| To prevent graphics, images and sound appearing |
- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
- Click the 'Advanced' tab.
- In the 'Settings' section, under 'Multimedia', click to remove the tick against any of the following options (depending on which ones you are having difficulty with): 'Play animations in web pages', 'Play sounds in web pages', or 'Show pictures'.
- Click on 'Apply' and then on 'OK'.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'.
- In the 'Content' tab, click the tick next to the option 'Load images automatically' to remove it.
- Click 'OK'.
- If you are on a website at the moment, refresh the page to remove the images.

| To change the size of the window |
- Press the F11 key on your keyboard to toggle between full-screen and standard. Or choose 'Full screen' from the 'Tools' menu on your browser.

- Click F11 to toggle between a full-screen view and a standard view. Or you can access this option by choosing 'View' from the browser options, then clicking on 'Full Screen' in the drop-down menu.

| To change the colour of links displayed on a screen |
- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Accessibility'.
- Click on the box next to 'Ignore colours specified on Web pages' so that it contains a tick.
- Click 'OK'.
- Select 'General' tab and click on 'Colours'.
- Click on the tick box next to 'Use hover colours' so that it does not contain a tick.
- Select 'Visited' and choose your preferred colour, then click 'OK'.
- Select 'Not Visited' and choose your preferred colour, then click 'OK'.
- Select 'OK' for 'Colours'
- Select 'OK' for 'Internet Options'.

- Open your browser's 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'.
- In the 'Content' tab, click the 'Colours' option next to 'Fonts & Colours'.
- Remove the tick in the box next to 'Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above.'
- Choose your preferred link colours.
- Click 'OK'.
- On the 'Content' tab, click 'OK' again.

Downloading PDFs
To view the PDF documents on our website you will need to download Adobe Acrobat. This program is free and can be downloaded by visiting the Adobe website. For information about reading PDF documents with a screen reader, please refer to the Access Adobe website.
