Ways to Top-up

Anyone can top-up your child’s Child Trust Fund account, as long as the contributions do not total any more than £1,200 a year (each new account year starts on your child’s birthday).

It’s quick and easy and there are various ways you can do it.

  • Top-up online – you can set up a monthly or one-off Direct Debit online. You can also sign-up for Online Wizard* for extra control over existing Direct Debits.
  • Top-up over the phone – you can set-up a monthly or one-off Direct Debit over the phone. Just call our Customer Service team on 0844 8 920 920** and they’ll be happy to take you through the process.
  • Top-up by cheque – send a cheque made payable to Family Equity Plan Ltd (or made payable to the child) to:

    Family Investments Child Trust Fund
    FREEPOST BR2206
    Brighton
    BN1 2BR

On the reverse of the cheque please write the child’s name, date of birth, CTF account number (this can be found on your welcome pack letter) and your name and address.
  • Top-up by Standing Order or Telephone/Internet Banking – you’ll need the following information to do this:

Type of account Reference Sort code Account number
Stakeholder Child Trust Fund Please use your child’s CTF account number. The format should be C00012345K 60-00-01 36238007
Cash Child Trust Fund Please use your child’s CTF account number. The format should be K00012345B 60-00-01 39495876

Unfortunately, we do not accept cheques or cash paid over the counter at a bank, building society or Post Office.

Important – if you provide an incorrect reference – for example, the wrong CTF account number – the payment will be rejected or could be applied to an incorrect account. It may also mean that we are unable to return any money that has been paid in.

All money paid in to the account will remain there until the child is 18, when only they will be able to access it. But please remember that because the account invests in stocks and shares its value could fall as well as rise and the child could receive back less than was paid in.

Please remember that if your child’s birthday is approaching and you wish to take full advantage of their current year’s allowance, you should take extra care to ensure that your payment reaches us in time.

* In order to register for Online Wizard you must be the registered contact for the Child Trust Fund account. If you are not the registered contact, you can still top-up the account using our standard Direct Debit functionality.

** Calls may be recorded and monitored for training purposes. Calls cost 9.9p plus 3p per minute from a BT landline (correct at 06/05/10). The cost of non-BT landline calls may differ.
