Unit and share prices explained
Money added to the Family Investments Child Trust Fund is pooled together with money from other investors. This pot of money is used to purchase ‘units’.
A unit is a share of the total investment held.
The value of each unit is based on the total investment held divided by the number of units held by all of the investors.
The current value of your child’s CTF account will be the number of units they hold, multiplied by the current unit price. For example:
- 3,000 units or shares x 176.50 pence = 529,500 pence.
- 529,500 pence divided by 100 = £5,295
The number and value of the units in your child’s account will be shown on their Child Trust Fund statement, which we will send you every year.
Or, if you’re interested in keeping an eye on how your child’s account is doing, you can register for Online Wizard. Online Wizard allows you to view the current value of your child’s account online 24/7 as well as calculate how much it could be worth in the future.
