Family in the community

We believe in doing the right thing, not just for families, but for our community as a whole. That’s why, since 1992, our Community Programme has been engaged, involved and committed to providing support for a number of local organisations.

• Education – we’re involved with local nurseries and work closely with a local primary school to help increase attendance, numeracy and literacy. We also work with local secondary schools/colleges to support the learning of teamwork, communication and leadership.
• Age Concern – we support our local branch and also offer an annual open day at our offices around Christmas for Age Concern members to post cards, make international phone calls and enjoy a coffee and a mince pie!
• Sponsorship/Funding – we support and top-up any staff fundraising. We also try to support local charities with small donations when we can.
• ‘Working Together’ Challenges – a great way for our employees to come together as a team, whilst giving something back to the community. They can range from painting and gardening to helping out at the local community farm and Sussex Wildlife Trust areas.
• Staff Development – we have an award-winning learning and development programme as well as a selection of community projects to help us enhance our skills.
• Environment – we have an extensive recycling scheme and promote the Government’s Cycle 2 Work scheme, which allows employees to lease bikes from us. We also encourage environmental best practice from all our key suppliers and vendors.

Family is a Community champion

The Family Investments Community Programme has been voted winner of the Business in the Community category at the Sussex Business Awards held at the Grand Hotel, Brighton on 6th November. At Family we have a phrase that we feel sums up our culture, and the attitude of the people who work for us, it’s about wanting to “do the right thing”. Whether this be for our staff, our customers, our local community or our business partners.
Our Community Programme is the perfect example of this. Everybody at Family puts a lot of hard work into the programme each year, indeed in 2009 as a company we put over 1,000 hours back into the local community.
